Healthy Hold Glaze

Tired of all the ingredients you cannot pronounced being put in your own or your child’s hair every day?

Here is a simple easy solution:

hair gel.jpg
  • 2 cups of purified or distilled water

  • 1/4 Whole Flaxseeds (found mine at Sprouts along with the aloe…ground doesn’t allow you to sprain out the grain)

  • 4 drops each Rosemary, Lavender, Ylang-Ylang Essential oil

  • 1 tbs aloe gel (amazon has it too)

Boil the water and flaxseed for 10 min. Allow time to cool and then strain the gel and seeds with cheese cloth and add your essentials. It fits just right into a 4oz mason jar and works well as a healthy hold glaze.

My main motivation for trying out this recipe is my tiny dancer who has started company dance this year and is required to practice in a very neat and tidy bun 9 hours a week. But my son also being the 6th grader he is…is also wanting to spend more time with his hair in the morning. I continued to experiment with a spray gel for as I can foresee the gel being super fun for them to just play with as a close friend to the beloved slime.

For the Spray Gel:

  • Using a small funnel and the sprays you can find as a doterra customer in your virtual store add 3 tbls of the healthy hold glaze. You may need to poke it to encourage it to slide down the funnel.

  • 3 tbls of sugar water (dissolve 2 tbs of sugar in warm water)

  • add 2 pumps of the fractionated coconut oil

  • add 2 drops peppermint oil in to deter any pests that may like the sugar.

We have just started using this and I am happy so far…if you have any suggestions I am open to hearing about how this can be improved. I am excited to share with all the ballerinas.

Oil Lovers in Yoga Pants Getting Coffee

'If you do follow your bliss you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living.  Follow your bliss and don't be afraid, and doors will open where you didn't know they were going to be.' ~Joseph Campbell

Do you love that Jerry Seinfeld gets paid to do exactly what he loves? This week I was thinking, man…if only I had thought of Oil Lovers in Yoga Pants Getting Coffee! LOL! This is what I find so magically fun and blissful…getting connected to myself and others in the intimate and spontaneous…

A couple of examples:

  • hosting a group of women to gather to dine and dish over a great book we read

  • meeting for a great yoga class and walking to a coffee shop to catch up and share dreams, heaviness, and laughs

  • greeting a new day on a hiking trail and working on our next event over a favorite local brew and salad

  • post teaching tea session to mastermind with a beautiful soul…

Oil Loving Ladies I get to share special moments with…you know who you are! Thank you for being in my life and filling my cup.

I am often so filled up by these blissful moments that I can be more patient with my children, respond with compassion and kindness to all around me, feel more creative and vibrant…and generally happier!

All of this communicates to every physical cell in my body for a greater well-being. The thing is…Oil Lovers in Yoga Pant Getting Coffee are not the typical female bonding rituals of my past. I used to feel that connection only through the bravery coming from a few drinks to be seen and share my heart and often it was a wounded heart falling onto more negativity and keeping me stuck in a cycle. Now…those I surround myself by are those that boost me up and keep me inspired and growing…even if I do drink too much coffee.

Usually I can put a few drops of Align Blend on my wrists or Citrus Bliss in my diffuser and make a visceral memory of these feelings through smell. Then anytime I want to feel more bliss a sniff of a favorite blend can take me back to my bliss and lead the way to greater abundance. Here are some new ways you might tune into how this can be applied in your life to stay more tuned into your bliss.

Surrendering to Pain

IN ORDER TO BE, HOLD

“When you stitch me up or calm me down, or the other way around, we slip into a lake that steams the heat off all trouble. Not that we leave the world. Actually, we enter in more completely until what’s sharp and hot can be handled. Then our dreams, our obstacles, our detours, where we start, where we land, what’s in the way, what helps us along - all of it becomes kindling for a bareness no one can live without and which no one can withstand alone.” ~Mark Nepo

We all experience discomfort in its many forms.

We Resist

We Grip

We hold tight to expectation

We should

We shame

What if instead we Surrender to …

WHAT IS THIS TRYING TO TEACH ME?

Call it out for what it is… the low vibe in form of physical experience. See the emotions and thoughts that are linked to it and choose to see it differently…as a teacher. Then if even fleeting we surrender to the pain and shift it to find peace.

Reach for the Soothing Blend when you are avoiding emotions that underlie physical pain to give you strength to face emotional wounds and allow them to surface for transformation and healing. Using this blend with this witnessing…this growth mindset in oneself will help us understand the nature of our pain, and encourage an assimilation of all life’s experiences.

When we do this for another’s pain and hold space for them we can experience an immense meaning in life that as Mark Nepo so beautifully writes is the real stuff we all deep down need and in an eb and flow, a give and receive on our journey. One way we do this is to apply oils to our children with giving them our presence. Listening to their pain and processing the confusing bumps along the way, this person to person connection is what we need.

The WEe ONE Project

Today is the start of 2019. A bright New Year of Possibilities. I know this to be true because 5 years ago I started on a journey that I never would have dreamed would taken me where I set my sights. I craved connection to myself and to my growing family. I rallied the support of other mothers and started a group that gathered in person and online to learn, share, cry, and grow together. Little did I know that planted such a strong seed of intention would lead me to so many tools and techniques that truly enrich and support the life I was reaching for. The WEe ONE Project continues to be my driving purpose…to nourish, empower, enrich the lives of grow oriented mothers.
